Celebrate the Winter Solstice by joining our guided mindfulness event with Caitlin Krause and Chris Madsen in a sensory-rich social VR journey that takes presence to new levels.
About the Winter Solstice and Mindfulness
Solstice derives from the Latin for “sun stands still.” How can we play with concepts of stillness, flow, and presence in VR, using mindfulness practices to amplify our senses and celebrate the season together?
For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, this December 21 marks the darkest day of the year, and the turn toward daylight lengthening as we approach springtime. It’s a time for artistic impulse, rejuvenation and renewal.
We have some special plans for this session, which marks the culmination of the 2019 mindfulness series in VR. No prior experience necessary – this event is open to everyone. There are limited spaces available, so please RSVP and plan to join us!
Mindfulness teaches how to direct our senses towards what is happening right now, to what we are doing and to the space we’re in. In today’s world, we forget to dedicate time to attend to what’s happening in the here and now. We each know we need this but defending time for it in our busy worlds is a challenge and an invitation.
Mindfulness is all about actively participating in being present. It allows us to connect inside and out. When we’re mindful, we reduce stress, enhance performance, gain insight and awareness through observing our own mind and increasing our attention to others’ well-being.
Mindfulness in Virtual Reality
Virtual reality is about immersion, where we can focus, rejuvenate, and connect deeply with our senses and the learning at-hand. The social space also allows for social-emotional connection. Putting on a headset immerses you in a different world, and by absorbing the senses in the virtual environment, you’ll be able to soften the chatter and heighten the focus.
